"I'm so starstruck - Baby, could you blow my heart up?"

Well, it's official. I called the dentist's office this afternoon and I set up an appointment for Thursday. I'm still a bit nervous about visiting a new dentist, especially since I have to drive all the way down to Tijuana, but I've heard a lot of good things about the service there, so it should be alright. Well, as alright as a visit to the dentist can get, anyway... Visiting the office of a person who intends to poke you with needles and drill holes into your mouth is never a pleasant experience. Just thinking about it makes me squeamish...

But I have a battle plan. I'm gonna walk in there, sit in the chair, turn on my iPod, and let the uplifting beats of Aerosmith take me away while I let a madman prod my teeth with heavy machinery. Hopefully, I can have this whole thing done with in two visits. As it is, I'm kinda jumping out of an airplane without a parachute...

Or in this case, a passport.

The passport office has yet to get back to me with my card, but it's my understanding that US citizens are still crossing into Mexicali with birth certificates and picture ID and that they only get slaps on the wrists for not having WHTI-compliant paperwork. Hey, it's not my fault that I don't have WHTI-compliant paperwork. I applied in February and someone (not me) at the post office (not me) fucked up my application. It's been three weeks since I sent in the forms and whatnot necessary to fix the problem and the passport office still says my application is in processing. So really, who's to blame here? Not me. I want to be WHTI-compliant, but someone made that impossible for the time being (again, not me).

Aside from the inevitable torture to precede any fun I might have, I'm looking forward to going to Mexico. I've never been out of the country before. Plus, I'll be in a country where I can drink - legally. Go, Eiri! Haha. I doubt I'll actually want to drink, though, even if I do get the opportunity. At least not until the Novocaine wears off.

Ughhh, just picturing that Novocaine needle makes me wanna call off this whole trip altogether...

I tried to call the financial aid office again this afternoon. And again, no luck. This is getting ridiculous. I can't stay on hold for hours and hours waiting for someone to pick up the phone and their voicemail is always filled up with messages, so I can't leave a message to have them call me back, either. I finally got so ticked off that I sent their office an email, since there seems to be no other way to get a hold of them. Gah. Here's hoping that they get back to me before the week is over... Watch, they'll call me when I'm in Tijuana and then we get to start this glorious game of tag all over again.

This week is going to be very busy for me. I have to get a week's worth of homework done so that I can go to the dentist, go to Havasu and get my hair bleached/colored/cut, and then go down to Samantha's on Sunday. Depending on what my schedule is, I might or might not stay for a week and a half until she goes back down to Havasu to visit her dentist. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get next week's homework done while I'm at her house... But I'll worry about that when I get to it.

I did a little more work on the lawn today. So far, it's looking okay, but the grass has yet to sprout. Probably because the sprinklers weren't working properly until today (the lawn wasn't getting full coverage because of the sprinkler adjustments). I've never actually had to tend to a lawn before, since we only ever had one once and that was when I was seven... So really, I don't know what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong. One wouldn't think that it was easy to screw up a lawn, but if anyone can do it, it's me. I manage to make uncomplicated tasks exceedingly complicated. :)

Alright...

So now, I wait for Sam to call.
