It's been a long few days. Sam finally got to my house on Tuesday night and we finally got to hang out. It was awesome. We spent a while in my room packing everything but the kitchen sink and playing with Kage. She insisted on dressing him up. Why? I don't know. She gets a kick out of it, I suppose. I don't think Kage was as amused as she was.
We stopped at Del Taco before we headed out for Lake Havasu and got to her mom's house sometime just before midnight. We were exhausted after the late car ride, but we managed to find enough energy to set up the air mattress in the spare room. And examine her mom's old book collection. It was actually a lot more fun than it sounds. Old books are fun to examine. We found a bunch of them that were dated in the 1800's. Crazy stuff...
Sam had to get up early the next morning to take her PT Cruiser to the shop. I got to stay at the house and deal with Alexa (her little sister). Alexa's not usually so bad but, unfortunately, she's nearing sixteen, so she's becoming a total nightmare. I consider myself fairly tolerant of obnoxious teenagers, but she manages to push my buttons. I rarely even bothered to push back. Really, it was a waste of energy. Besides, if she thinks calling everyone "you stupid hobo" is cool, then who am I to stop her?
Coming back from the shop with her mom's car (she traded cars with her mom for the day), Sam brought coffee and bagels. Perfect way to start a morning. Well, I assume it is... I usually go to bed at 5AM - starting my day at 8AM was insane. Especially with four dogs ransacking the house every chance they got.
I spent the day catching up on current events with my other-other half. We went shopping in the morning, picking up some cosmetics and such, dye for her hair (she gets to be my guinea pig!), and clothes. There's really nothing like 11AM clothes shopping. Then we went to Chico's Tacos for lunch - a time-honored tradition from when Hastings was still near Keva Juice.
Then, finally, we had to go pick up her mom from her work. We took the dogs for the ride so we could take them to the beach for a walk, but... that didn't work so well... Right when we got out of the car, the clouds decided to burst and it rained. And it was cold. Horribly cold. Haha. Good times.
The rest of the day was rather tiresome. We had to figure out what to do about the cars because Sam's was still in the shop, but we had to leave before nightfall. We ended up taking her mom's Jeep while her mom rented a car. Very confusing situation. After ice cream at Cold Stone, we ditched her mom and drove back to the house to get our stuff ready for the drive to Phoenix.
And... that was where we lost Buddha and Noni. Her mom's dogs. Apparently, India (Sam's pit bull) managed to unlock and open the doors of the house and all of them scattered during the few hours that we were out of the house. Mowgli (the puppy) and India stayed in the yard, but Buddha and Noni ran off. Noni came right back, but Buddha remained at large. He'll probably get picked up by the pound. It's not the first time he's jumped ship and it probably won't be the last. He's a tough old dog, so we're sure he'll be okay - but poor Noni was so upset about losing her brother.
The drive to Phoenix was a killer; we made it in around midnight. I didn't go to sleep right away, despite being exhausted, mostly because I was too busy playing the Thinking Game, but I finally conked out around 2AM. Or somewhere thereabouts.
Sam and Duane are both at work now, so I have the house to myself until one of them comes home. I spent most of the late morning downloading music (I'm working off Sam's home network, so I have no daily MB limit), which was awesome. I think I added 2GB to my music library in a mere two hours. Mowgli is taking a nap on the couch and I'm tempted to follow his example. I really should get up, though... at least to find my phone. I took so much stuff with me that I'm not sure where anything is anymore.
On a slightly upsetting note, I have an assignment due tonight that I haven't even started... Gr. >:( But on a better note, Sam called me during her lunch break to tell me that Buddha's at the Havasu shelter, all safe and sound. :) She felt bad that we had to leave him out there on his own and so did I, so it was nice to get that bit of good news.
Hm... My concentration has been completely thrown. Still, I guess I should do something productive. But what?
I don't know what's worth fighting for, or why I have to scream. I don't know why I instigate and say what I don't mean. I don't know how I got this way, I know it's not alright, so I'm breaking the habit tonight.
