Play to kill - shoot to thrill.

It's been a while since I've had the time to sit down and blog. Ever since I got home from Phoenix, I've been bombarded with this and that, mostly trips to the dentist (of which I still have one more) and work on my finals. Finals are done, thank goodness. I put the finishing touches on both last night after I took Mom out to dinner for Mother's Day. I now have exactly one week of freedom before classes begin again and I go back to constant pressure. But I can deal with the stress and whatnot with a week of relaxation under my belt. I think.

Phoenix was... an eventful trip, to say the least. Sam borrowed her mom's car, it got towed. So we got to deal with that and then her sister from the third day of my visit until the end of it, which was an unfortunate setback, but we dealt with it. Sam's boyfriend... not even gonna go into that. There's way too much to say about what went on during my week's "vacation" up there, including a night of reckless drinking, which pretty much made the entire trip worthwhile.

So far, May's been an okay month. The trips to Mexico aren't too bad, either. It's interesting to step out of the States for a while and explore a different culture, even if said culture is essentially a huge tourist trap. Mexico has its appeal. Namely the Spanish stop signs that I can never seem to take my eyes away from...

And sombreros. On the way to US Customs, I stumbled across a street vendor selling sombreros and I just couldn't help myself.

So yeah, my trips to Mexico have been kinda cool. Aside from the dentist. I could live without that. Maria is nice and everything, and I'm extremely happy with the work she's done, but still. It seems that I'm spending almost every Saturday in a dentist's chair and as boring as my life is, I could think of better things to do with my weekends, and none of them involve drills or needles. I could live without annoying Border Patrol agents, too...

Oh, I could definitely live without them.

On our way back from Mexico and Yuma on Saturday, me and my mom passed through the Border Patrol station like we always do, stated our destination, and they dragged us into secondary. That bugged me. According to the agent, his dog gave him "probable cause" to search the vehicle and, frankly, I found that to be very unlikely. Her handler claimed that she smelled illegal narcotics, but I've seen that dog and her brother a thousand times before while going through that station, I grew up around K9 narcs, and I know what their indicators are, so I can say with certainty that there wasn't any "probable cause." Even so, I figured that we were out in the middle of nowhere against six officials and that arguing was pointless. But what really pissed me off was that they separated me from my mom and one of them - Mr. Probable Cause - asked her if I was taking drugs. Asked my mother, not me, despite the fact that I was less than five yards away. That got under my skin.

I can't stand it when people don't say these things to my face. A cop once took my statement from my mother despite my being in the room and within earshot, and now a Border Patrol agent went behind my back to get my mom to narc on me. Hmph. Either I look young or I look stupid; whatever the case, it really grinds my gears.

But it doesn't matter now, I guess. It wasn't like the dog found anything in my car, and the trip to Mexico and Yuma was worth it, anyway. Got the bulk of my dental work done, got to see Iron Man... Yeah, can't complain. :)

This week is gonna be great. Uneventful, but great nonetheless. I'm really looking forward to sleeping in and not worrying about turning in assignments, or staying up too late and wondering how that'll affect my studying when I finally wake up. Who knows? Maybe I'll even get some writing done.

... Yeah, I have absolutely no muse for it yet...

And on an absolutely random closing note, my puppy is a die-hard rock'n'roller. I put on AC/DC's Back in Black album and he started jumping around the living room like he just took speed. Haha. I love this dog.
